African Choir of Norfolk 5 years

The African Choir of Norfolk took to the stage for our five year anniversary to another sold out concert in November and what a real celebration that was.

It doesn’t feel that long ago when we first got together with one aim, to bring together those of African heritage to sing, share stories, heal and connect.

Since then the choir has grown into a project beyond any of us wildest dreams.

This five year signature project for the Autumn Festival of Norfolk has shown when arts and community are brought together the ripples of the rewards are bigger, wider and soul enriching. This has been for both our audiences that experience the joy the choir has created on stage as well as the choir members as a whole.

The success of the choir would not have been possible without the forward thinking of our producer Stash Kirkbride and Autumn Festival of Norfolk co-founder Peter Barrow MBE

What they both saw and helped archive for the African Choir of Norfolk is a legacy history, joy and pride.

Under the direction of musician and community leader, philanthropist Anna Mudeka DL, the African Choir of Norfolk Project has been one of many great success project Anna is very proud to have lead.

So what’s next for the African Choir of Norfolk as we start to shape the next five years? Well, more news to come as we start deciding the future of the choir, we will be excited to share this with you all soon. It’s looking like the future of the choir is firmly strong through the current members, those joining to strengthen the structure of the choir so watch this space, bigger and more prominent events in 2026 and recording projects.

But for now just a huge thank you our audiences who have supported us over the 5 years, Arts council of England, Arts La-olam and many others.

On behalf of the African Choir of Norfolk Thank you!
